Voice Presentation

A Voice Presentation is a special type of Voice Board that allows you to associate a web page with each message. This allows you to create an online vocal slide show.

Creating a Voice Presentation is very similar to creating a Voice Board: in the Creation page of the Voice Board, select Voice Presentation instead of Voice Board in the Presentation Type drop-down menu.

Voice Presentations are managed and accessed in exactly the same way as normal Voice Boards.

Show web content with accompanying audio

The new Voice Presentation tool lets instructors harness the wealth of material on the web by giving them the ability to add audio and text messages alongside URLs. Post foreign language questions asking about the content of a website and have your students respond by attaching comments to the Voice Presentation slide. Or post any web-ready multimedia content like Flash or video to a server and annotate it with your voice.

How do I operate it?

  • Click "New" to create a new slide.
  • Once slides exist, click on any slide to view it.
  • Use the audio player/recorder in the top left to play or record attached audio messages.

Why is it so great?

  • It is a great way to author an online presentation. It is incredibly easy to sequence and annotate an arbitrary set of Web pages.
  • The author just clicks on "compose," specifies a URL, and talks into a microphone.
  • Teachers can now rapidly create online lectures with voice.

What else can be done?

  • Wimba Voice Boards and Voice Presentation can easily be combined to create a discussion forum in which messages consist of URLs with voice overlay.
  • For example, you can create a voice presentation and allow visitors to comment on the various "slides".
