Department of Education and Children's Services, South Australia (DECS)

The Department of Education and Children’s Services (DECS) is responsible for ensuring the provision of children’s services and public education throughout South Australia. Their key functions include setting the directions for education and care in South Australia, providing and regulating children’s services, and managing the state’s education system. NetSpot has worked with DECS since 2005 on the introduction of Moodle for schools and on the development of and hosting for their "Digital Learning Bank" of learning objects for teachers and students.

NetSpot has supported a long-term staged roll out of the Moodle Learning Management System for DECS, commencing with an initial cohort of 20 schools. And just 24 months later, close to 150 schools had opted-in to have their own dedicated Moodle instances and the system enjoys support for up to 11,000 accounts. Currently, over 325 schools are operating their own dedicated Moodle sites, with over 150,000 student/teacher accounts accessing the software.
