NetSpot’s Managing Director, Allan Christie, provides leadership in the area of online education and training and other advanced applications of the Internet. He is a Fellow and current member of the Executive of the Australasian Society for Computers In Learning In Tertiary Education (ASCILITE). Allan has been invited to join numerous review panels for national/international conferences and granting bodies. He has undertaken numerous consultancies for national organisations and published widely, presenting more than 40 papers at International and National conferences in the broad area of educational technology over the last 15 years.

Featured Client – ACU National

Towards the end of 2002, ACU National (ACU) made a strategic decision to adopt WebCT (now Blackboard CE) nationally across its five campuses. ACU also made a decision to seek external hosting and management of Blackboard CE and appointed NetSpot as their provider.   NetSpot was involved in the migration of courses, setup of course request procedures for staff, the implementation, management and operation of a Help Desk for both students and staff and the integration of Blackboard with ACU’s Student Management System, SunGuard SCT Banner.

NetSpot provides a comprehensive solution for ACU and has enabled the university to dramatically increase adoption of Blackboard from 30 staff and 80 courses in 2002, to over 150 staff and 1000 courses in 2007. Over 12,000 students at ACU use Blackboard on a regular basis.

NetSpot has worked closely with ACU’s Student Systems and IT services to ensure tight integration between CE and the Student Management System, but also to ensure that NetSpot runs an effective Help desk that routes requests appropriately and resolves issues in as short a time as possible.
