High Availability Data Centre
NetSpot hosts in a high availability data centre. Additionally,
NetSpot operates a disaster recovery hosting facility to ensure
high levels of availability.
The primary
data centre is backed by a disaster management plan that would be
invoked in the event of a disaster. Importantly the facility comprises
two geographically distributed data centres that can be used to
house systems in the event of a disaster.
The data
centre incorporates the following facilities:
• AARNet
connectivity (for educational customers);
• UPS power filtering and backup for power brownouts and blackouts;
• A 500KVA diesel generator to provide continuous power;
• Early warning smoke detection and power shutdown systems;
• Environmental management systems;
• Daily backup of systems data;
• Off-site backup of tapes in fire rated data safes;
• High security access and video surveillance monitoring of
the data centre;
• Fully redundant network path to the web from web servers;
• Fully redundant pathways to the Internet connection points;
• Fully configurable firewalls to minimise disasters and assist
in rapid response and identification of issues.
Backups and Disaster Recovery
The backup solutions provided by NetSpot are designed to provide
the maximum protection against data loss. All managed servers are
backed-up nightly and transferred to tape for off-site storage in
fire-rated data safes.
In a comprehensive
service, data changes can be replicated to a disaster
recovery standby system in a separate hosting facility.
